GeoRankle became GeoG — and Rankle is still here

What GeoRankle was

In spring 2026 the game was called GeoRankle and did exactly one thing: Rankle. Eight countries shown one at a time, eight ranking criteria — population, area, coastline length, passport power… — and one slot per criterion. For each country you had to pick the criterion where it ranks best in the world, then compare your total to the optimal placement.

The name said it all: “Geo” for geography, “Rankle” for ranks. It was a ranking game, not a map game — you could shine at it without being able to place Turkmenistan.

What changed

The game took the name GeoG when other modes grew around Rankle: flags, capitals, the 3D globe, country shapes, borders… 12 modes today, all covering the 195 UN member states, with a daily challenge shared by every player, online duels, a ranked mode and a 300-level story mode.

The site and the app now speak sixteen languages, and the game runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser, with a single account.

What did not change

• The Rankle rule: eight countries, eight criteria, each criterion used once, and a score given as an efficiency percentage against the optimal placement. The full rules have their own page.
• The 41 criteria, drawn from public sources (World Bank, UN, UNESCO, sports federations), listed on the mode page.
• The Streak variant — one country, four criteria, one mistake ends the run — which has its page too.
• Free to play: no account for solo play, nothing to buy to reach any mode.
